The McLaren MP4-17 was the F1 car driven by David Coulthard and Kimi Räikkönen during the 2002 and 2003 FIA Formula 1 World Championship seasons. The chassis was designed by Adrian Newey, Mike Coughlan, Neil Oatley and Peter Prodromou, with Mario Illien designing the bespoke Ilmor engine.

The steering wheel made for the McLaren-Mercedes MP4/17 was one of the most advanced pieces of technology on the car. It featured buttons for controlling fuel mixture, engine mapping, pit lane speed limit and more. Having the electronics intact, as-raced is very cool.

The McLaren MP4-17 was a very successful grand-prix car, winning 9 races over the course of the 2002 and 2003 seasons. David Coulthard took 7 wins in the car, including a dominant victory at the 2002 Monaco Grand Prix. Kimi Räikkönen also took 2 wins in the MP4-17, including an emotional victory at his home race in Finland.

The McLaren MP4-17 remains one of the most successful cars in McLaren's history.

Offered here is an original steering wheel from the car, most likely used by David Coulthard and with all of its original electronics intact. A very rare opportunity to own a piece of racing history and sure to be a great addition to any McLaren or Mercedes motorsport collection.
